Christina Koch does not have the air of a professional who has won the prestigious American Association for Justice 2011 Paralegal of the Year award. Nor does she seem boastful of her many awards and honors, including a spot in the 2008 Paralegal Superstar Calendar and a trip to New York to speak at the 2012 American Association for Justice Annual Convention.

She is an instructor, published author, and sits on numerous boards and panels. “Five or six years ago I started speaking and teaching paralegals nationwide. I started joining committees and in 2011, ran for office as the President of the Nebraska Paralegal Association.”

Her secret? A passion for the field. “I’ve always been interested in the legal field, it’s something that has been deeply ingrained in me for years.”  This helps her to be an effective case manager, specializing in litigation.

Growing up in Orchard, Nebraska, she received her Bachelor of Science in Management in 2002 and her Master of Science in Justice Administration in 2012, maintaining a GPA of 4.0 in both advanced degrees. She also holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies, earned in 1991.  She joined Inserra & Kelley in 2002, and brings over 20 years of legal experience.  She holds advanced paralegal certifications in Trial Practice, Automobile Accidents, Premises Liability, Products Liability, Wrongful Death, Workers’ Compensation, Intentional Torts, Medical Malpractice – Individual, Medical Malpractice – Entity, and was the first paralegal in Nebraska to become an Advanced Certified Paralegal in all eight areas of Personal Injury.

The team dynamic is what keeps her grounded in the I&K team. “The dynamic is different here because everyone has different specialties. The client gets personalized attention that they would not elsewhere.”

When not inspiring the next generation of paralegals, she enjoys spending time outdoors, freelance writing, and kayaking.
