Meet Shelly, Demand Paralegal

Shelly White has been part of the now Inserra | Kelley | Sewell Injury team since April 10, 2000. She started out as receptionist to learn more about the field, but soon worked her way up to Demand Paralegal. She also does backup bookkeeping activities for the firm and has written the firm’s website blogs for the past few years. White appreciates the novel team approach IKS has, with each paralegal having a specialty and everyone working together with the attorneys and having input into the day to day details involved in serving clients and the community. Some of White’s past experience studying physiology in being a fitness instructor and education as an Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Room Tech prepared her for her daily use of medical knowledge when interpreting and summarizing medical records and bills. She puts together the demand packets for IKS, which she sees as presentations made on behalf of clients to insurance companies to best represent every unique client. White says, “I make it a point to communicate heavily with the client and explain our processes so they can understand exactly what will happen step by step and trust we are doing all we can to best represent them. With our multi-specialty team here at IKS, each client knows they will have the best experts available for the needs of their specific case.”

In her years at IKS, White valued continued learning and growing in life, so after getting her two kids through high school she quickly obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Science. She did not stop there, going on to earn her graduate degree and honors in the areas of organization development, leadership, conflict management/mediation, and counseling. Although this was all done in her spare time, White was able to maintain 4.0 grade point averages throughout and was inducted into honor societies with each program. White enjoys serving and counseling individuals outside her work at the firm and also loves spending time with friends and family. She lives in Fremont with her husband, Rodney and two dogs, now their only kids in an empty nest. She has an adult stepson, Brandon working and loving soccer in Kansas City; a daughter, Ashley, who lives in Denver working as a nurse and engaged to be married in July, 2017; and a son, Jacob, who lives in Omaha with his wife, Brittany, where he works as a Graphic Designer and she works as a landscape design and horticulture specialist. White also stays active, enjoying walking, bicycling, camping, motorcycling, and traveling.
