Starkist Lawsuit Loss Could Make You Money or Tuna

Starkist Tuna just lost a class action lawsuit originally brought over two years ago.  The claimant asserted that the tuna giant was purposely giving consumers a little less than the label says, so one might allege that would save the company a lot of money over the long run with a few tenths of an ounce less in each of millions of cans sold.  Starkist’s own PR people would likely say they did nothing wrong but settled the case out of goodwill.  Whatever the case may be, consumers can claim their prize, or rather their $25 refund or $50 in Starkist Tuna.  The only requirement is that the consumer had to have purchased one of four Starkist tunas, listed on the site, between February 19, 2009 and October 31, 2014 to make a claim.  The company has indicated they trust that consumers will pay attention to the Golden Rule not to lie when filing a claim under threat of committing perjury under penalty of law otherwise.
