Trek Bike Recall

The very popular Trek Bikes are the subject of a very important Consumer Product Safety Commission recall of Trek bicycles with front disc brakes and black or silver quick release levers on the front wheel hubs, model years 2000 through 2015.  At least three reported injury incidents have occurred to date, with one accident causing the rider to be paralyzed as a quadriplegic.  The accidents occur when the front wheel abruptly stops or completely comes off the bikes when the front disc brake assembly contacts the front wheel hub.

The subject Trek bikes pose a high risk of danger and use of them should immediately halt.  Authorized Trek dealers will do a free install on a quick release on the front wheel of the bike and give each owner a twenty dollar coupon towards Bontrager products.  The subject Trek bikes were actually available in the stores from September of 1999 to April of 2015 and range in price from $480.00 to $1,650.00, so it is important that you contact Trek or an authorized Trek dealer to determine whether your bike is included in the recall.  The recall includes a total of almost a million Trek bikes, 900,000 of them in the United State and another 98,000 in Canada.

If you or someone you know has a Trek bike, possibly subject to the recall, be sure to make contact with Trek.  If you or someone you know has already suffered injuries due to the subject defect from the Trek recall, please call Inserra & Kelley to discuss whether you may be entitled to compensation.  As the weather turns warm, be safe out there bicyclists everywhere!
