Ford pickup drivers beware! Ford is being investigated by the U.S. government due to at least 33 complaints of brake failure in the Ford F-150 pickup truck. The investigation involves 420,000 pickups that have 3.5 liter, six-cylinder engines from 2013 and 2014 model years. Complainants have reported that the brakes sometimes, out of the blue, go all the way to the floor with no braking occurring. The defective brakes have caused at least four motor vehicle accidents that have been reported due to brake fluid leaking to the brake booster from the master cylinder. There is the possibility that Ford F-150’s with different engines could also have the same braking system and possibly be at risk for the same problems. A recall has not yet been issued, as NHTSA investigators are still trying to determine whether it is necessary.
