Omaha Police Department – Unable to Respond to Non-Injury Vehicle Collisions – What to Do!
/in Blog, News /by Mikala HardenThe Omaha Police Department announced that due to Covid-19 concerns it is temporarily suspending responses to non-injury “moveable” property damage automobile collisions as of 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2020. This means the OPD will continue to respond to collisions if any motorist suffers injuries or a vehicle is not drivable. It is therefore important that if you or your passengers are injured in a collision or your vehicle is not drivable that you call 911 and request officer assistance.
If you are involved in a moveable property damage only collision (without injury) it is important that you exchange information with the other driver (license plate numbers, auto insurance cards, & driver’s license) and get the names and contact information of any witnesses. It is also helpful to take photographs from several sides of all vehicles involved in the collision before they are moved. As always, try to remain calm.

Gap Insurance Coverage: Do you need it for your automobile?
/in Blog, News /by Mikala HardenGap insurance coverage pays for the difference between your automobile loan payoff amount and the value of a vehicle at the time it is totaled in an accident or stolen. This insurance coverage guarantees that if your vehicle is not worth (at current retail value) as much as the amount of your auto loan payoff the insuring company will pay the difference between the two amounts, and leave the insured whole, with no out-of-pocket loss. Most standard auto liability or comprehensive insurance policies only cover what a car is worth at the time of loss, and with insurance carriers no longer using the NADA or Kelley Blue Books for valuation as in the past, and now using services that value vehicles much lower than blue book in some instances, gap insurance has become more valuable than ever. Gap insurance coverage costs very little, and is normally a wise purchase for new or expensive vehicle purchases.
There are three ways to purchase Gap insurance:
Why should you buy it?
Not all drivers need Gap insurance coverage. Your decision to buy gap coverage should depend on your level of risk tolerance, and your financial ability to write what could be a 4-figure check to your auto loan company if your vehicle is totaled in an accident, EVEN IF THE WRECK IS NOT YOUR FAULT. If you decide to purchase gap insurance coverage it is a good idea to check with your insurance agent to find out the cost in comparison with the offered coverage from the dealership before your finalize the purchase. If you have any questions about your needs for gap insurance, feel free to call the Team at Inserra/Kelley/Sewell, Injury Attorneys.

Infant Deaths Have Fisher-Price Recalling Nearly 5 Million Rock’n Play Sleepers
/in Blog, News /by Mikala HardenFisher-Price is recalling all models of Rock’n Play Sleepers after 32 infant fatalities occurred while using the product. The fatalities occurred between 2011 and 2018 “after the infants rolled over while unrestrained, or under other circumstances,” according to the (CPSC) Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The cloth-covered cradle became a staple in many households for sleep-deprived parents as it vibrated, played music and positioned the baby at an incline.
It is alleged that Fisher- Price and the CPSC knew about the deaths and danger of this product for years and could have taken steps to prevent this tragedy from happening.
Fisher-Price is offering full cash refunds for Rock’n Plays purchased in the last six months. Sleepers bought before that are eligible for a cash voucher toward a new Fisher-Price product.
If your infant has suffered from injuries from a Fisher-Price Rock’n Play Sleeper, please call the experts at Inserra Kelley Sewell to see whether you might be entitled to compensation.
