MEET Pat Cooper – One of Omaha’s Leading Personal Injury Attorneys

Patrick S. Cooper

Pat Cooper graduated from Creighton University in 1999 and from Creighton University School of Law in 2002. After clerking for a federal judge for two years, Pat joined a large Omaha law firm where he practiced all kinds of civil litigation for nearly 20 years. Since joining Inserra Kelley Cooper Sewell, Pat’s practice has focused on personal injury litigation for injured parties.

Pat has significant trial experience in both state and federal court. In 2023, Pat obtained three multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements in litigated matters, including a $5.8 million jury verdict following an 11-day jury trial, an $8.4 million judgment following a three-day trial, and a $1.9 million judgment arising from a settlement.

Pat has been recognized for his efforts in the courtroom. He is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale Hubbell, has been selected as a Great Plains Super Lawyer for more than ten consecutive years, and is listed in Best Lawyers including in the areas of Litigation, Insurance Law, and Appellate Work. Pat was recognized by Best Lawyers as the Litigation-Insurance “Lawyer of the Year” in Nebraska for both 2022 and 2024. Pat also received the Nebraska State Bar Foundation’s “Distinguished Service Award” in 2023.

When Pat is not advocating for clients or spending time with family, Pat is serving the Omaha legal community and community-at-large. Pat is a past president of the Omaha Bar Association and has been named a Fellow in the Nebraska State Bar Foundation and American Bar Foundation. Pat is a past chair of the Nebraska State Bar Association’s Professional Enhancement Committee and was a member of the inaugural class of the Nebraska State Bar Association’s Leadership Academy. Pat serves on the Creighton Law School Alumni Advisory Board and is a long-time member of the Board of Directors for the Mid-America Council, Boy Scouts of America. Pat was an adjunct professor at Creighton Law School where he taught trial practice, and he also served as a high school mock trial coach for nine years, including coaching one national championship team, two national runners-up, and eight state championship teams.
